Today, November 4, I joined NaNoWriMo. Yes, I know, I've lost three days already. National Novel Writing Month: Thirty Days of Literary Abandon, is a project that encourages fiction writers to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Or 27, if you find out about the project a few days late. With work, 2 classes, finals and a busy holiday season coming up my membership in this outrageous group is crazy, but I feel the need to spend more time inside my own head right now and this seems the perfect way to do it. I also really need to do a whole sh**load of writing in a messy, meandering, no-turning-back kind of way. Words from NaNoWriMo's first pep talk email to joiners:

Do not edit as you go…Your inner editor will be very grumpy about this, but your inner editor is a nitpicky jerk who foolishly believes that it is possible to write a brilliant first draft if you write it slowly enough."

Well, so long inner editor. Hello typer of wild abandon…
